Susan Cass has taught in Mainstream Schools of all ages, both as a classroom teacher and attached Department Leader.  She has worked with Looked After Children and has taught in Special Schools for many years, during which time Susan was trained to use the T.E.A.C.C.H. method of working with young people who have Autism.  She is a qualified Teacher of the Deaf and has gained British Sign Language Stage II.

She ran Music Groups for pre-school aged children for several years and taught the piano, recorder and guitar to grade VI exam level.  Susan has worked for some time alongside Music Therapists.   Latterly, Susan has worked as a Specialist Teacher supporting children who have Autism in mainstream schools.

Her particular professional interests are: transition from one school to another and supporting younger pupils. She enjoys incorporating music into her sessions to support autistic youngsters.

All the staff at this school look forward to Susan’s company as we receive quality support from her. Susan is a considerate and patient practitioner who offers staff relevant information that is communicated using approachable language. In addition to the adults at the school, the children also enjoy her company and look forward to her visits.
It is not only her professionalism that we appreciate, but also her kind-hearted nature and good sense of humour.
